Karbaumer Farm - Community Supported Agriculture for Kansas City

What's Growing?

We have three main gardens and a hoop house .  Many rows were harvested and replanted.  We still have lettuce, spinach, cabbage, radishes, beets, peppers,  green beans, and kale in our fall harvest.

The green tomatoes have all been taken off the vines and we're burning the vines today.  All the beans were picked and their plants pulled in anticipation of the hard frost.  Now we have sunny days again!

The garden called "Abundance" is in its second year of production and was our primary potato patch this year.  Beets and heirloom lettuces still grow there.

In "Bountiful" the spinach and cabbage are still small but strong and will be ready for harvest in a week or so.  Gradually the rows are getting cleared for a long winter's nap.

"Teikei" is our newest garden.  "Teikei refers to  "the face of the farmer" in the Japanese language.  This is the origin of Community Supported Agriculture and the mantra of the local vegetable grower.   Teikei is our south garden, near the road.

Eden is our entire protected growing area, fenced to protect the growing vegetables from the hens and rabbits.
